Kogi State House of Assembly on Tuesday set aside the screening and confirmation of Reverend Michael Amupitan Sunday as the Secretary of Ijumu Local Government Area.

The Local Government Chairman, Hon. Taofiq Isa had written to the Assembly notifying the House on the Suspension of the elsewhere Secretary, Hon. Alexander Obaropo and nominating Reverend Michael Amupitan Sunday as his replacement.

The House had rejected the request, pointing out that the request did no follow due process but the Chairman forwarded another letter of Suspension as well as nomination of the Clergyman with attachment of Legislative Council resolution that recommended suspension of Hon. Obaropo.

Reverend Michael Amupitan Sunday, when he appeared for Screening on Tuesday could not give a satisfactory response to the discrepancies in his age.

This made the Deputy Speaker, Right Hon. Alfa Rabiu to move a motion that the confirmation and screening be stepped down until the nominee do the needful.

Reverend Michael was directed to harmonize the disparity in his age in his Curriculum Vitae, Primary School Leaving Certificate and that of his WAEC Certificate.

The Speaker of the House Right Hon. Matthew Kolawole said the Clergyman can be renominated after the needful has been done as the date of birth provided in the document presented before the House showed a foul play.
