It was an atmosphere of jubilation and dancing over the weekend as a Philanthropist, Chief Lamidi Bojuwon and his wife, Chief Sifau Omolola Bojuwon were conferred with the Chieftaincy Title of Amuwagboye and Yeye Amuwagboye of Gbede Kingdom respectively.
The title was conferred on the duo by the Olugbede, Oba Olusegun Oloruntoba with other members of Gbede Traditional Council in attendance as well as friends, families and well wishers both within and outside the country.
Chief Bojuwon, a former National President of Aiyegunle Gbede Development Union is a Finance Expert, who retired from Federal Civil Service while his wife is an International Nurse of repute having practiced both within and outside the country.
The couples, who are based in the United Kingdom most have been found worthy of the Chieftaincy Title following their modest contributions to Community especially Aiyegunle Gbede and Gbede Kingdom at large.
The Olugbede, Oba Olusegun Oloruntoba, who presided over the conferment of the titles, noted that the recipients deserve the honours, owing to the large turnout of people at the event, saying it was a demonstration that he is a man of the people.
According to Oba Oloruntoba, the conferment of the Chieftaincy Titles, which is an extension of the maiden Gbede Day held on March 30th 2024 was in recognition of personalities who have contributed immensely to their respective communities and Gbede in the area of peace and development.
While emphasizing that the Titles were not based on what he called “cash and carry” but to reward hard work and dedication of the recipients in their chosen careers and community development.
The President of Gbede Development Union, Chief Israel Oshafunmi while speaking earlier, congratulated Chief Bojuwon and his wife on their well deserved conferment of Chieftaincy Titles and called on Gbede sons and daughters to support the building of a befitting palace for Olugbede which according to him is long overdue.
Chief Oshafunmi explained that with love and cooperation, Gbede Kingdom will take its rightful place in the scheme of things, urging sons and daughters of the Kingdom to come together and work collectively for its progress.
Responding shortly after receiving the Title, Chief Lamidi Bojuwon thanked the entire Gbede people especially Traditional Rulers for the honour done him and his family, which he said will spur him to contribute more to community development.
Speaking on the proposed palace for Olugbede, Chief Bojuwon expressed optimism that the project will be completed in record time during the life time of Olugbede.
While paying glowing tributes to Gbede founding fathers, for laying a solid foundation of education, the Amuwagboye of Gbede said he wouldn’t have achieve much in life without qualitative education.
He called on sons and daughters of the Kingdom to embrace love as a tool for unity and progress to enable them attain more developments.
Reacting to the Conferment of Chieftaincy Titles, the National President of Aiyegunle Gbede Development Union, Comrade Ahmed Ade-Fatai described Chief Bojuwon and his wife as strong pillars, who have supported development in the community.
Comrade Ade-Fatai, who recalled the achievements of Chief Bojuwon during his tenure as President of the Union, described the recipient as a worthy Ambassador of Aiyegunle Gbede and Gbede Kingdom.
