Girl Child Education: Olujumu Announces Establishment of Ijumu Women Council

In a bid to promote girl Child education, the Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom, Oba Williams Olusegun Ayeni has announced the establishment of Ijumu Women Council to champion the course of the development of the girl Child.

Oba Ayeni announced this at the meeting of Committee of Ijumu Elders and Council of Honourary Chiefs held at his Palace in Iyara, Ijumu Local Government Area.

The Ijumu Paramount Ruler said the move became imperative as the level of unwanted pregnancy at the grassroots was alarming, hence the need to take urgent measure to salvage the situation.

According to him, the Council is expected to also play Advisory Role to the Traditional Council as well as better the welfare of women in the Local Government.

He noted that the Council has been registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), adding that their activities will kick start this year.

The Council he explained will be headed by the Yeye Oba of Iyara land, Chief. Olufunmilayo Bodunde.
