Chief Omofaiye maintained that through the Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi Arid Land(ACREsAL) project, more communities in the State will be reached as Government is fully committed to the implementation of the project.
The success you see today is as a result of the way we coordinated ourselves, the projects are of international standard and you can see for yourself the quality and His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Bello during the inspection of the projects commended us and said he is proud of what you have been able to do.
“What we are currently addressing now like NEWMAP is winding up now and the state is entering into another World Bank project which is called Agro Climatic Resilience in Semi Arid Land(ACREsAL) project and that will serve as a way of mitigating ecological problem confronting the state. And don’t forget that it is not only Environment, this time around the project will cover Agriculture, Water Resources and Environment. It is a tripartite arrangement and is larger than what NEWMAP has been able to do, He added.
On the flood prediction for Kogi, the Commissioner said though the embankment in Lokoja will reduce the annual disaster in the State Capital, sensitization of people are currently ongoing.
“The activities of controlling flood is divided into three; you have the pre-flood which is purely to sensitise the people and get some of our our people ready which we have been doing and the activities during the flood you know we have been telling them immediately they see the water coming they should quickly relocate to Higher Ground which is the safest place for them to go.
He added that the State Government is fully ready for any flood that might occur.
