The authority of Kabba/Bunu Local Government on Sunday sealed the NIPCO Fueling Station in Kabba for allegedly supplying fuel to bandits perpetrating criminal activities in the Area
The Local Government also impounded a truck, carrying a large fueling tank, and other products allegedly used for illegal fuel transportation, suspected to be aiding criminal operations within the region.
Chairman of the Local Government, Zacheaus Dare in a statement through his Media Aide noted that the move followed months of diligent investigation, intelligence gathering, and surveillance carried out by the Local Government security architecture.
Intelligence reports had consistently linked a particular truck to a pattern of purchasing and transporting unusually large quantities of fuel to the forests around Kiri, other parts of Kabba/Bunu, and adjoining areas extending toward Niger State. These are locations known to harbour criminal elements troubling our communities.
The suspect’s activities were finally curtailed today as the Kabba/Bunu Security Team, working in synergy with operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), successfully trailed, intercepted, and confiscated the vehicle and the product being transported.
Following this development, the Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu LGA Hon. (Barr.) Zacchaeus Dare Michael has directed the immediate sealing of the NIPCO Fueling Station Kabba for violating a standing order issued by the Local Government Authority. The directive expressly prohibits the sale of fuel to individuals using jerrycans, drums, or large tanks, especially when such transactions raise suspicion or contravene established security protocols.
This order was part of the Chairman’s strategic security measures aimed at cutting off the supply chain of critical essentials, particularly petroleum products that often find their way into the hands of bandits and terrorists hiding in our bushes and farmlands. These criminal groups have consistently used such supplies to sustain their operations, enabling attacks that threaten peace, stability, and the safety of our people.
At present, the suspects, the confiscated truck, tank, and the fuel product are all in secure custody as investigations intensify. The Executive Chairman has assured that the matter will be thoroughly investigated to its logical conclusion, and all those found culpable will face the full wrath of the law.
“This action should serve as a strong warning to all individuals or entities still determined to sabotage government efforts in restoring peace and fighting insecurity in our Local Government,” the Chairman stated.
The Kabba/Bunu Local Government Authority remains unwavering in its commitment to safeguarding lives, protecting communities, and ensuring that no stone is left unturned in the ongoing fight against criminality.
