Ijumu LG: Haruna Empowers Over 200 Widows in Ogidi Community

The Chairman of Ijumu Local Government, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna Ijumu, has extended a humanitarian gesture to widows in Ogidi Community through cash empowerment in celebration of 100 days in office and to mark His Excellency’s one year in office.

 

Speaking at the event, the Chairman revealed felt the urgent need to introduce a monthly stipend for widows after encountering a helpless widow in dire need. He noted that many widows belong to the dependent population with no means of support, emphasizing the need to uplift vulnerable members of society. He further pledged to expand the initiative across all wards in Ijumu Local Government, as it has already reached three wards within the community.

 

The event was graced by notable dignitaries, followers and cabinet members, who joined the Chairman in his commitment to giving back to society.

 

In appreciation, the widows offered prayers for God’s continued promotion and blessings upon the Chairman and the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo. They described the initiative as a significant relief, commending the Chairman’s compassion and dedication to humanitarian efforts.

 

Community representatives also expressed gratitude for the initiative, acknowledging the Chairman’s generosity and praying for God’s continuous provision in his life.

 

Additionally, the Chairman held discussions with community leaders on pressing issues concerning the welfare and development of the Ogidi community, reaffirming his administration’s commitment to grassroots progress.
