Insecurity: Kogi Govt. Move to Establish Forward Operating Base in Bunu land

In a major decisive move towards curbing the menace of insecurity in Kogi State, the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), led a high-profile delegation on an on-the-spot inspection to assess the proposed site for the establishment of Nigerian Army Forward Operating Base (FOB) in Iluke Bunu, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area.

 

The visit which took place yesterday marks a substantial benchmark in the state government’s commitment to enhancing security for the people of Kabba/Bunu. The visit also aimed to access the land and existing structures, while making recommendations for further developments.

Recall, during the recent establishment of NSCDC Divisional Unit in Odo-Ape, the State Security Adviser to Kogi State Government – Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd), assured Kabba/Bunu people of Governor Ododo’s led administration’s determination to enhancing security in the area.

Jerry Omodara, noted that security of lives and property is in the front burner of Governor Ododo’s administration’s policies. He equally said that to a great extent the presence of the force will boost security in the axis, urging communities to cooperate with officers and their men that will be deployed to the Base, and other outposts within the area.

 

After touring the site, Commander Omodara expressed confidence that the Governor being a visionary leader, would not allowed such structures to remain unused.

Earlier at the Palace of Olu-Ofere of Ofere community, Comdr. Jerry Omodara had said that the establishment of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) is for the purpose and interest of our people, however, urged that each communities should come up with Security Trust Fund account in order to boost security in our respective communities.

He added that Youths must also rise to be the first line of defence against insurgents and attacks by bandits, while reiterating the state government’s position on dealing with any Youth suspected to be informants to bandits and kidnappers.

Accompanying the State Security Adviser were; the Executive Chairman of Kabba/Bunu Local Government – Hon.  Zaccheous Dare Michael; the Kabba/Bunu APC Chairman – Mr Solomon Jemibawondo; Hon. Lee Olorunmola – APC Chieftain; and other leaders of Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area.

The community commended the leadership of His Excellency, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for awarding the establishment of the Forward Operating Base (FOB), describing it as a major boost for the enhancement of security in the area.
