Insecurity: Kogi Monarchs Move to Safeguard Citizens and Foreign National

Traditional Rulers in Yagba Land, Kogi State say they are making frantic effort to safeguard the lives and proper of citizens and Foreign National doing business in the Area.

 

This was the outcome of a security meeting attended by the Agbana of Isanlu Kingdom, Oba Moses Babatunde Etombi, the Elegbe of Egbe Kingdom, Oba Irukera, the Elulu of Mopa Kingdom, Oba Jerome Joledo at Isanlu, the capital of Yagba East LGA.

The Agbena of Isanlu while speaking at the meeting, urged Security Agencies as well as local Hunters and Vigilance Groups to be alive to their responsibility of protecting Yagba land from activities of men of the under world.

 

Oba Etombi particularly emphasised the need to create an enabling atmosphere for Expatriates especially those working with the Chinese Company and their workers to perform their legitimate business.

 

Nigeria is a very important partner of China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Nigeria and China 50 years ago, China and Nigeria have joined hands, supported each other, respected and accommodated each other’s core interests and major concerns, thus achieving great cooperation results in respective fields.
He further said that “I charge you to Safeguard the legitimate interests of Chinese projects and institutions, protect the safety of Chinese enterprises and personnel in Isanlu, curb violent acts by criminals, and jointly purify the public security environment. Furthermore, I advocate for the public to abide by the law, live in harmony with and befriend Chinese people, jointly contribute to the economic and social development of Nigeria.”

 

On his part, the Director of Security, Yagba East Local Government, Alebiosu Rafiu, explained that Chinese enterprises have contributed immensely to the  economic development of the Area, saying they owe it a duty to maintain the safety of Chinese projects, enterprises and personnel.
The next step will be to mobilize relevant forces to cooperate with vigilante, hunters, police and other departments and organizations to carry out special protection operations.
In their separate remarks, Olukotun of Ifeolukotun, Alh. Shuiab Muhammed, the Otunba of Mopa, Chief David Saul, who represented the Elulu of Mopa and representative of Elegbe of Egbe, Chief Babalola Olajide commended the Agbana of Isanlu for his exceptional leadership qualities and urged other investors to emulate the Chinese firm’s bid to support security agencies in Yagba land.

 

Responding, the Isanlu Police Area Commander, ACP Okoye Thomas expressed gratitude to the Chinese Company and the Isanlu Paramount Ruler for their relentless support, saying they will continue to do everything humanly possible to guaranty safety of lives and property.
The Area Commander however said sabotage of security of the Area will face the wrath of the law, calling on local people to fight against them, provide information for the police to bring saboteurs to justice.

 

He said that the next step will be to mobilize police force to solve the cases and carry out some actions such as patrol.

 

The meeting was also attended by Heads of Nigerian Police, DSO of local government, Vigilante Kogi State VGK, Local Hunters, Civil Defense, Immigration,SIB and DSS.
