The Iyara Development Association (IDA) has postponed the 2026 Iyara Cultural Day, originally scheduled for October 31, to November 28, 2026, as a mark of respect for the late Eleta Oluyara of Iyara land, HRH Oba Jacob Meduteni.
In a press release signed by its National President, Alhaji Aliyu Badaki, PhD, the Association said the celebration would now hold at the same venue and time as earlier planned, and apologised to community members and stakeholders for any inconvenience the rescheduling may cause.

The IDA disclosed the new date shortly after thanking individuals, communities, and groups who sent condolence messages following the monarch’s passing.
The Association commended the people of Iyara for their “peaceful conduct” during and after the Kabiyesi’s demise, describing the orderly response from chiefs, women, Gbarufus, and youth leaders as “unprecedented and commendable.”
The Association called on residents to remain united in pursuit of the Iyara envisioned by the community’s founding fathers, describing peace as “the panacea for coexistence and development.”
Further details on the rescheduled Cultural Day are expected to be announced closer to the new date.
