A crucial meeting by the African Democratic Congress, Kabba-Bunu Ijumu chapter, has been held in Kabba to thrash out major issues threatening the party, following recent victories especially in Kogi Western Senatorial District where the party picked two house of representatives slots.
Top on the agenda, was addressing the controversy surrounding the governorship candidate, with Leke Abejide and Dele Belo Williams in the spotlight.
While addressing the press, EXCOS from Kabba Bunu and Ijumu described Leke Abejide as the only recognized candidate for the November governorship election in Kogi State.
According to the Secretary of Asuta Ward, Kabba, Mr. Aguda Segun Damilare, “Dele Bello did not bring any form for us to sign, so we are not aware of his candidacy. The only candidate we know is Elder Leke. He is the only one we endorsed.”
Speaking in the same vein, the ADC chairmen for Kabba-Bunu and Ijumu described the action of Dele Bello as efforts aimed at undermining the party’s chances in the governorship election.
“He said he is from Kabba here. But the chairman cannot say he signed a form for him. So how can you contest the governor, and there is no form that your ward and local government will sign?” Queried Ajayi Bolaji Bello, the ADC youth leader for Kabba-Bunu.
ADC Kabba-Bunu Chairman, Kayode Andrew and his counterpart from Ijumu, Adeyemi Felix, promised to work for Leke Abejide, whom they described as the only candidate with the capacity to lead the party to victory.
The Kogi State governorship election is scheduled for November.
