The member representing Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon. Salman Idris has empowered over six thousand (6000) members of his constituency with empowerment items worth hundreds of millions.
The ceremony was held at his country home in Aiyegunle-Gbede in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.
The lawmaker said as part of his responsibility to provide quality representation for the constituency and also to facilitate opportunities for the people, he has decided to reach out to the people through different programmes, hence the distribution of the essential materials to assist the people in alleviating their sufferings.
According to him, the beneficiaries were drawn from across the 30 wards in the Federal Constituency.
According to him, variety of essential materials and tools available for distribution to support their livelihood includes, 6000 bags of 10k rice, 30 motorcycles, 30 grinding machines, 10 Deep Freezers, barber’s clippers with chairs and accessories, 15 water pump machine, 100 sprayers and chemicals, 20 hairdresser kits, 20 industrial sewing machine and 20 generators.
He noted that these essential materials are meticulously selected to support the people across some critical sectors in order to assist them to access the tools of operations that will enhance their productivity leading to economic gain for them to be self-reliant.
Hon. Salman charged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the materials given to them, assuring the people who have not been considered to keep hope alive as many programs and empowerment are in pipeline in 2025 that will also be beneficial to them.
He urged the beneficiaries not to sell those materials as any attempt to dispose of the materials cheaply would be a disservice to his efforts at repositioning their well being.
He promised to continue to prioritize development of the entire constituency, pointing out that just yesterday, he commissioned a six blocks of Classrooms at Government Science Secondary School, Okedayo in Kabba district, solar powered boreholes in Edumo and Odo-Ape communities in Bunu land for the people to access portable water and quality education respectively.
Some of the beneficiaries who spoke to newsmen commended the lawmaker for living up to expectations by providing such empowerment programs just barely 17 months in office, and pointed out that they will continue to give him the needed support for him to do more.
Solomon Owope, one of the beneficiaries that got a motorcycle was full of joy, appreciating the kind gesture of the lawmaker, promised to make judicious use of it.
Present at the occasion includes senior officials of the Kogi State Government, local government officials, political leaders, traditional rulers, Chieftains and members of the governing All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency.
