A doyen of philanthropy, Prince Olatunji Olusoji, has confirmed his participation in this year’s Egbeda-Egga Day Celebration, which has been scheduled for Saturday, 6th September, 2025.
In a message to Chief J. O. Fatoba, one of the community’s leaders, Prince Olatunji Olusoji acknowledged the invitation to serve as Chief Launcher at this year’s Egbeda-Egga Day Celebration.
According to Comrade Mike Olanrewaju, Chairman, Central Planning Committee, the event promises to be a grand affair, with several dignitaries in attendance.
Prince Olatunji Olusoji’s participation is expected to add prestige and honour to the celebration.
Notable dignitaries billed to attend the event include: His Excellency, Alhaji Usman Ododo, the Executive Governor of Kogi State, Special Guest of Honour; Hon. (Arch.) Salman Idris, Chairman; Chief (Mrs.) Toyin Kosoko Omole, Lady Chairperson; and Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna, Executive Chairman, Ijumu Local Government Area, who is also the Chief Host.
Others are: Mr. John Olatunde Ayeni (CON), Co-Launcher and Dr (Mrs.) Folashade Ayoade, Secretary to Kogi State Government, Esteemed Guest. Royal Father of the Day is His Royal Majesty, Oba Olusegun Williams Ayeni, the Olujumu of Ijumu Kingdom; Mother of the Day is Chief (Mrs.) Nike Okundaye, Yeye Oba of Ogidi Kingdom.
The event will also attract political heavyweights in Kogi State, including: Senator Sunday Karimi, Senator, Kogi West Senatorial District; Hon. (Elder) Leke Joseph Abejide, Member, House of Representatives; Hon. (Mrs.) Omotayo Ishaya Adeleye, Member, Kogi State House of Assembly and Hon. (Prince) Matthew Kolawole, former Speaker, Kogi State House of Assembly.
The event aims to bring together sons, daughters, in-laws, friends and well-wishers of Egbeda-Egga community to celebrate their rich cultural heritage and promote unity and development.
Apart from display of an array of culture and cuisines, some very important personalities shall be honoured with Chieftaincy Titles by the Obaro of Egbeda-Egga, Oba (Engr) Noah Olumide Obademi, FNSE. These include Hon. James Abiodun Faleke; Prof. Sam Ale and Chief Hope Iyayi. Some individuals and corporate bodies will be given awards of recognition during the event for their sterling contributions to the society. These include Prof. Olayemi Akinwumi; Mrs. Alice Obademi; Mr. Muyiwa Eleboda; as well as Niger Biscuits Company; Nigerian Distilleries Ltd and Seven-Up Bottling Company. There shall also be Posthumous Award for Mr. JT Atibioke; Chief Ootaji Ajibola Fayomi ; Chief Joseph Bamidele Elewa and Pa Ojo Omojola.
The 2025 Egbeda-Egga Day Celebration shall be jointly hosted by prominent sons of the community, including distinguished politician and former Kogi State Commissioner for Finance, Hon. Abiodun Ojo; a Security Expert and Community Leader Par Excellence, Chief J. O. Fatoba; an Educationist and Development Expert, Chief (Dr) Duro Oniemola; an Engineer of great repute, Engr. J. S. Omowaiye and a Food Scientist, Prof. (Chief) C. O. Orishagbemi.
