Kogi Education Commissioner Hosts Bunu People for New Yam Festival

Kogi Education Commissioner, Hon. Wemi Jones, FCIB, hosted many people of Bunu land in celebrating the traditional new yam festival popularly known as 7/7.

 

Held every year on the 7th of July, the festival marks the commencement of the yam harvest in Bunu land.

 

While addressing his people during the celebration, Hon. Wemi Jones emphasized the importance of unity and peace among the people.

 

He reassured the community that the government is dedicated to ensuring the safety and security of all citizens, urging them to continue supporting Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo’s administration.

 

During his visit to the various Bunu communities in celebration of the new yam festival, Hon. Wemi Jones made stops at Agbadu, Okebukun, and Oke-Ofin before reaching Ayede-Bunu, where he finally addressed the people.

 

The Commissioner was greeted warmly by the residents of each community, who were excited to see him participate in the festival.

 

In his address at Ayede-Bunu, Hon. Wemi Jones expressed his joy at being able to celebrate the new yam festival with his people and emphasized the importance of unity and peace in the community.

 

He further assured the people of the government’s commitment to ensuring their safety and security, urging them to continue supporting Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo’s administration. The Commissioner’s visit was well-received by the residents, who appreciated his presence and words of encouragement during the festive occasion.

 

Amidst the festivities, the Honorable Commissioner expressed his joy in celebrating with his people and extended well wishes for continued prosperity.
