In a progressive move to align teaching methodologies with the demands of the modern world, Kogi State College of Education (KSCOE), Ankpa, recently organized a “Train the Trainers” workshop aimed at equipping academic staff with the skills necessary for digitalized Black board LMS teaching and learning.

Dr. P.F. Fashagba, Provost KSCOE, Ankpa, a leading voice in the institution’s academic development initiatives, emphasized the critical need for digital transformation in Black board/white board education during the workshop.

 

He remarked, “We must digitalize our teaching and learning to enable our products to meet current challenges and realities.”

The workshop focused on empowering academic staff with practical tools and techniques for integrating digital technologies into their instructional practices in Black board/white board LMS.

 

Participants engaged in sessions covering a range of topics including e-learning platforms, digital content creation, online student engagement, and the use of educational software.

 

According to Dr. Fashagba, the transition towards digital education is not just a response to global trends but a necessity to prepare students effectively for the evolving professional landscape.

 

He pointed out that digital skills have become fundamental to both teaching and learning, influencing how knowledge is delivered and absorbed.

“Our aim,” Dr. Fashagba added, “is to ensure that our lecturers are not only aware of these tools but also proficient in using them to enhance the quality of education we provide.”

Dr. Fashagba, commended the State Government under the able leadership of His Excellency, Alh. AHMED USMAN ODODO the executive Governor of Kogi State for creating an enabling environment where teaching/learning thrives and for giving the college the needed support to excel.

The training also addressed challenges faced by academic staff in adopting new technologies, such as limited infrastructure and varying levels of digital literacy. Solutions and strategies were collaboratively developed to overcome these hurdles, fostering a supportive environment for continuous professional development.

The workshop is part of KSCOE’s broader strategy to modernize its curriculum delivery and ensure that graduates are well-prepared to thrive in a digitally driven world. By investing in the capacity building of its educators, the institution underscores its commitment to maintaining high academic standards and relevance.

Participants expressed enthusiasm about the knowledge gained and pledged to apply the digital tools in their classrooms, marking a significant step towards a more dynamic and inclusive educational experience.
