This historic breakthrough was made possible through the bold and strategic intervention of the Executive Chairman of Ijumu LGA, Alhaji Ibrahim Haruna.* His swift and deliberate engagement with both communities broke a jinx that had defied previous attempts at resolution for nearly three decades.

By personally visiting the affected areas and holding peace-building dialogues with traditional councils, he was able to foster trust and steer both sides toward a lasting solution.

During the peace meeting, High Chief I.B. and the Akirin of Ekirin Adde recounted the long and painful history of the disputed land, including years of legal battles, community tensions, and the disruption of peace that plagued both communities. Their detailed accounts shed light on the depth of the conflict and underscored the significance of the resolution.

The Olugbede of Gbede, representing the Ijumu Traditional Council, lauded the communities for their willingness to embrace peace and praised the Chairman’s leadership, describing it as courageous and timely.

Also speaking, the Olu-Adde of Adde and the Obaro of Iyamoye appealed to all parties to sustain the peace in honor of the Executive Governor of Kogi State and in appreciation of Hon. James Abiodun Faleke, whose tireless efforts have been instrumental in advocating for the university’s approval and siting.

With consensus reached, the land that had been at the center of conflict since 1996 has now been officially donated for the construction of the proposed Federal University—ushering in a new era of peace, unity, and development in Ijumu LGA.
