Kogi State Commissioner for Education Honorable Wemi Jones, FCIB has received an award for his Exemplary Leadership, hard work and dedication to duties
The award which was presented by Mariks Business Ventures, Abuja equally captured teachers across the three senatorial who have shown excellence in their line of duties.
The award was in recognition of his remarkable efforts in improving the quality of education in the State.
Presenting the award to the Commissioner and other recipients of the award in Lokoja on Monday, the Managing Director Mariks Business Ventures Hajia Maryam Audu Odeh said the award was her contribution to the economic growth and human development in the State especially in education and urged the awardees to be more committed to their duties.
Responding, the commissioner commended the Managing Director of Mariks Business Ventures for coming up with the award to reward excellence especially teachers for their contribution to human and economic development of the society.
The award he said was in line with the State Government policies in education aimed at reducing poverty in the State through education.
According to him, the State Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo was committed to ensuring that every child of school going age has access not just to quality education but free education from primary to secondary schools level
He noted that the State Government Education 2020 law and the free payment of both entry and exit Examinations fees for students in the State public schools have reduced the out of school children rate in the State and also ensure that students complete their studies at no cost to them and their parents.
The Commissioner said these policies in education have become laws of the State and would continue until poverty is driven out of the State.
In their remarks, the Director General Radio Kogi Lokoja, Hajia Nana Hawa and the Education Secretary, Lokoja Local Government Area Mr. Abdulkadiri Yakub Sule commended the organizer of the award for recognizing excellence, saying this would spur not just the recipients but teachers in the State to aspire for excellence.
Responding on behalf of the awardees, Mrs. Lawrence Motulayo Justina thanked the organizer for the award and promised that the award would energize them to be more committed to their duties.
The recipients of the awards were also rewarded with a cash prize of Fifty Thousand Naira Each.
