NBTE Approves Establishment of Polytechnic in Kogi

The National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has approved the establishment of Gloryland Polytechnic in Ankpa, Kogi State.

 

Similarly, the Board approved six course in the polytechnic namely: Computer Science, Accountancy, Statistics, Business Administration and Management, Computer Engineering and Technology, Electrical Electronics/ Engineering Technology.

 

Proprietress of the Polytechnic, Vivian Idama made this known while presenting the letter of approval to the Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones on Wednesday in his Office.

The letter reads in part “I refer to the application and subsequent approval/resources inspection visit to Gloryland Polytechnic, Ankpa, Kogi State. I hereby convey the approval of the Honourable Minister of Education to establish the institution in line with the provision of Act CAP E3 LFN 2004 with effect from, 7th November, 2022.”

 

 

“The Board has also approved interim accreditation for the following academic programmes and number of streams for take-off of the institution:

 

“The approval is subject to you admitting not more than the above approved number of streams indicated above and strict compliance to the regulations and government polices as it affects Private Polytechnic institutions.

 

“Admission of students into the approved programmes should commence from the 2022/2023 session, otherwise the approval to commence the programmes lapses. Thereafter, the admission can only be allowed to take place after a fresh resource inspection visitation has been carried out at the instance of the institution.

 

“The approved programmes will be due for initial accreditation when the first set of the students are in the third or fourth semester of study.

 

Responding, the Commissioner described the news of the approval as a thing of joy and better way of strengthening education in Kogi State.

 

He congratulated the Proprietor on the approval, describing it as a victory for qualitative education and part of the dividends of the State Education Law.

 

Hon. Jones restated the commitment of Governor Yahaya Bello’s administration in revamping the State Education sector.
