The newly appointed Managing Director and Chief Executive of Ajaokuta Steel Company, Prof. Nasir Naeem Abdulsalam has assumed office.
Addressing Management and Staff shortly after a management meeting, the Managing Director saluted their commitment and resilience in the last forty years, saying the management Staff must work together to make progress.

According to Prof. Nasir, the mandate given to him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is to make the Company work with assurance of provision of support, saying such task will be realized if the Staff redouble effort and provide the needed support.
The Managing Director stated that in bid to hit the ground running, measures will soon be put in place for immediate capacity building for Management and Staff, assuring of equal treatment for all.
He thanked the Minister of Steel Development, Prince Shuaibu Audu for the support that necessitated the appointment, promising not to disappoint the confidence reposed in him by the President.
Prof. Nasir maintained that his dream has been for the Company to work, saying his administration is committed to making a difference as the Coy is cardinal to the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
In his remarks, the Member representing Ajaokuta Steel Company, Alh. Sani Egidi expressed delight over the appointment of Prof. Nasir, thanking President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for demonstrating political will towards the completion of the Company.
Alh. Sani commended the Management and Staff of the Company for standing forth and protecting the facilities in the Company and expressed hope that the Company will work.
He urged the Managing Director to see the task ahead of him as a National assignment and carry everyone along, assuring that the Staff will give him the needed cooperation and support.
Also Speaking, member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Hon. Salman Idris tasked the Staff to give their maximum support to the new Managing Director as his appointment is based on competence.
According to him, every Nigerian is looking forward to the commencement of work at the Company as it remains another source of revenue generation and employment apart from crude oil.
Earlier, the ongoing Sole Administrator, Engineer Kanwi Joseph expressed optimism that the Company will work during the tenure of the New Managing Director, expressing confidence in the staff as they are well knowledgeable to actualize his dream.
He thanked the management and Staff for the support given to him in the last six months when he took over as well as the host Community, urging them to extend same to the new Managing Director.
