Nigeria Needs United Approach To Fight Insecurity, Says Omodara after Bagging MSc in Peace and Conflict

Kogi State Security Adviser Commander Duro Jerry Omodara (Rtd), says Nigeria needs what he called a United approach to tackle insecurity, calling on Nigerians to be united to fight the Challenge.

 

Commander stated this shortly after he bagged MSc in Peace and Conflict at the Prestigious Federal University Lokoja during its 8th Convocation Ceremony.

 

The 8th Convocation of the Federal University Lokoja took place on Saturday 26th October, 2024, celebrating the achievements of graduates from various disciplines, faculty members, students and their families, emphasizing the University’s commitment to excellence and societal development.

 

Jerry Omodara, who received an excellent score for his MS.c in Peace and Conflict, was among the post-graduate students honoured at the event.

The State Security Adviser told Newsmen that he considers the tremendous accomplishment as a reflection of his unwavering dedication and passion for greatness.

 

He emphasized the importance of peace and security in the context of national development. He highlighted the role of Peace and Conflict Program in fostering dialogue and understanding among diverse communities, which is crucial for sustainable peace.

 

He praised the management of Federal University Lokoja, for academic achievement and character development in the institution, noting that their efforts will produce future leaders and have a beneficial impact on the society.

 

He further commended his fellows for their resilience and dedication, particularly in addressing contemporary conflicts and contributing to peace building.

 

Omodara hammered on the need for unity in tackling security challenges facing the nation.

 

He urged graduates to leverage their education to promote peace and to be proactive in community engagement. While also encouraging more students to take up courses that promote peace building.

 

The State Security Adviser enjoined the University to create more programs aimed at conflict resolution and peace building initiatives in Kogi State and beyond.

 

The event concluded with a call to action for graduates to become Ambassadors of peace, advocating for understanding and collaboration in their respective communities.

 

The 8th Convocation of FULokoja marked a significant milestone in the academic journey of graduates, particularly those in the field of Peace and Conflict.

 

At the event, the State Security Adviser was joined by the House of Assembly representative for Kabba/Bunu, Hon. Seyi Bello; the Zonal Security Adviser to the Governor in Charge of Kabba/Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Hon. Moses Olorunleke; the former Council Leader of Kabba/Bunu LG, Hon. Towonifinni Mosiko; an APC Stakeholder, Hon Funsho Braimoh; a community leader, Mrs Bola Olobayotan, a Former Legislative Aide to Frm. Kogi Speaker, Hon. John Oniwaiye Ogede, among other families and friends.
