The newly inaugurated Executive of the Kogi State Information Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists on Wednesday received a delegation from the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Kogi State Chapter, on an advocacy visit aimed at strengthening collaboration and promoting professionalism among information officers and public relations practitioners in the state.
Speaking during the visit, the Chairman of NIPR Kogi State Chapter and Special Adviser to the Governor on Print Media, Ismaila Isah, emphasised the importance of professional membership for all information officers, noting that registration with the Institute was lawful and essential for PR practitioners across the country.

He said membership of the Institute offered opportunities for continuous professional development, capacity-building, and training designed to enhance members’ skills and competence in the discharge of their duties.
Isah further stressed that Institute membership equipped practitioners with the knowledge, ethics, and professional standards required to effectively manage public communication and project the positive image of their organisations.
Responding, the Chairman of the NUJ Information Chapel, Solomon Musa, appreciated the NIPR leadership for the visit and the insights shared with members.
He congratulated the Executive on their election and inauguration, and assured them of the Chapel’s willingness to work with the new Executive for a viable and functional Institute of Public Relations in the state.
Musa pledged to work closely with the Institute to encourage information officers in the state to register as members, describing the initiative as a significant step toward improving professionalism, competence, and effective service delivery in the information sector.
The visit ended with a shared commitment by both organisations to foster stronger collaboration in advancing ethical journalism, professional public relations practice, and capacity development for information officers in the state civil service.
