Ododo Commissions State-of-the-art Southward Hospital in Kogi

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo on Tuesday commissioned the State-of-the-art Southward Hospital and Diagnostic Centre in Edumo, Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area.

Governor Ododo while speaking at the ceremony attended by dignitaries from both within and outside the State, noted that the Hospital is a hub for quality healthcare in the State.

 

According to him, government alone cannot meet the health needs of the people of the State, hence the adoption of Public Private Partnership (PPP) to provide quality and affordable health services to the people.

 

The Governor applauded the tireless effort of the Financiers of the Hospital for investing in healthcare infrastructure as it represents hope, progress, and a commitment to the people’s health and wellbeing.

“The hospital is equipped with modern diagnostic facilities, including; Computed Tomography (CT Scan), MRI, digital X-ray, ultrasound services, and a laboratory.

 

It will serve Kabba/Bunu and neighboring areas, enhancing early detection and treatment of illnesses,” he said.

 

Ododo assured the management of the hospital of the state’s support, saying the government will provide a conducive environment for such institutions to thrive.

 

The Governor enjoined the people of Edumo, Kabba-Bunu and its Environs to protect and utilize the facility to improve their health needs.

 

He emphasised that the commissioning is part of the state’s efforts to strengthen Public Private Partnership especially in the health sector.

 

Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer of Southward Hospital and Diagnostic Centre, Mrs. Bosede Omodara notes that the new Health Facility will compliment the effort of Federal and State Government in the health Sector.

Mrs. Omodara thanked the Bank of Industry for providing technical support, saying the Hospital will provide diagnostic and other health services to the people.

 

She solicited for the support of the State Government in actualizing its mandate, assuring that the Institution will partner with the State Health Insurance Agency to bring health care closer to the people.

 

The Lawmaker representing Kabba-Bunu Ijumu Federal Constituency, Hon. Salman Idris commended the laudable initiative, saying investing in Healthcare in investing in humanity.

 

The Hospital Directors, Prof. Victor Kolawole and Dr. Sherifat Yusuf-Faniran, expressed gratitude to the State government for creating a conducive environment for the private sector to grow and called for its sustenance.

 

On his part, the Commissioner for Health, Dr Adeiza Abdulazeez, applauded the establishment of the Hospital.

 

Dr. Abdulazeez added that the facility will serve Kogi and neighboring states, complementing the state’s health Tertiary Institutions.

 

In his remarks, Kogi State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara, (rtd) expressed gratitude to the Governor for gracing the event despite his busy schedule.

 

He lauded the governor’s dedication to tackling insecurity and fostering peace in Kogi West and the state.

 

Omodara highlighted the governor’s stance against banditry, stating that no part of the state will be surrendered and no negotiations with bandits.
