Ododo, Dangote, Other Notable Nigerians To Attend Egbeda Egga Day On Saturday

Community To Celebrate 100 Years of Christianity

The people of Egbeda-Egga in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State are set to host their Annual Cultural Day and Centenary Celebration of Christianity in the community.

 

The events, scheduled to take place from September 6 – 8, 2024, promises to be a memorable one, with a range of activities lined up.

According to a Statement by Comrade Mike Olanrewaju, Chairman of the Egbeda-Egga Day Central Planning Committee, the celebration will feature a cultural picnic, medical outreach, charity events, carnival, fireworks and thanksgiving service.

 

This year’s Egbeda-Egga Day is particularly significant as it coincides with the 100th anniversary of the arrival of Christianity in the community.

 

The celebration, which is also aimed at raising N600 million for community development projects, will attract dignitaries from all walks of life, including the Executive Governor of Kogi State, His Excellency, Alh. Usman Ahmed Ododo, and business mogul Alh. Aliko Dangote. Other notable personalities expected at the events include Engr. Dahiru Barau Manga, Barr. Femi Mokikan, Chief APS Arogundade, Chief (Mrs.) Nike Okundaye, members of the National Assembly, Kogi State House of Assembly and prominent entrepreneurs and technocrats. The Egbeda-Egga Day Celebration shall hold on Saturday, 7th September, 2024.

 

Several cultural displays, including Igbafun, Bereke, Amuro, Ere Iyawo, Swaghe and Eyo (from Lagos) have been scheduled to feature during the programme at the Community Town Hall.

 

The grand finale of the celebration will be a Centenary Celebration Service at St. Michael’s Anglican Church on Sunday, September 8, 2024, to be presided over by the Lord Bishop of Ijumu Diocese (Anglican Communion), Rt. Rev. (Dr) Paul Olarewaju Ojo, and other men of God.
