Speaker of Kogi State House of Assembly, Alhaji Aliyu Umar has emphasized the need to give legal backing to rotation of the Governorship seat in the State.
Alhaji Aliyu stated this when he received the Kogi West Ododo/Joel Campaign Council led by its Director General, Mr. Funsho Olumoko.
According to the Speaker, members of the House have commenced discussion on the matter to sponsor a bill that will give legislative framework to the rotational system.
He commended stakeholders in Kogi West for working for the victory of Alhaji Usman Ododo and stressed the need to Interface with all that contested from the Western Senatorial District on the need to join hands and move the district forward.
Other members, Princess Omotayo Adeleye-Ishaya representing Ijumu, that of Mopa/Amuro, Olawumi Jacob, Shehu Ebaiya of Lokoja one and Aliyu Idris, Kogi Kotonkarfe State Constituency praised the Speaker for uniting members to deliver the ruling party in the just concluded Gubernatorial election.
Earlier, the DG of Kogi West Ododo/Joel Campaign Council, Mr. Funsho Olumoko noted that the visit was to thank the Speaker and members of the House from the Senatorial District for their encouragement and support during the last electioneering campaign.
According to him, the Campaign Council values the humility and contributions of the Speaker to the victory of the Governorship Candidate of the Party, hence the visit.
He also thanked every leader in Kogi West for giving APC resounding victory and expressed optimism that the Governor-Elect will not let the State down.
The Director General thanked the State Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello and leadership of the party for the privilege given him to serve, adding that stakeholders in Kogi West must come together to support the incoming administration.
On his part, the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara (rtd) emphasized the need for unity among all and sundry in the Senatorial District.
The Delegation also visited the family of the Late Chairman of Lokoja Local Government Area, Alh. Danasebe Mohammed where the DG said the sacrifices of the deceased Council Boss will not go unrewarded.
The Director General, who condoled with the family, said Late Alhaji Danasebe served the Local Government, All Progressives Congress APC and the State meritoriously.
He stated that though the Late Chairman will be greatly missed, the present and incoming administration will not neglect his family.
Mr. Olumoko described the deceased as a dedicated and loyal politician.
Responding, the Uncle of the deceased, Mohamned Tenimu thanked Governor Yahaya Bello for finding the Late Chairman worthy to serve and for attending the burial.
Special prayers were offered by the Commissioner of Special Duties, Comrade Ade Ismail for his mother, wives and children.
