The remodeling of the school in all facets into international standards is almost completed as Tuesday, March 18th. All is almost set for the commissioning of the landmark projects by Edo State Governor, Mr. Monday Okpebholo, on April 6th, 2026
Speaking to newsmen during the guided tour of these facilities yesterday, Principal of the Senior school, Mrs Adam Obetaru-Jato, described the transformation being experienced in the school as unprecedented, noting that what the members of the Achievers, Class of ’91, led by Mr. Peter Dunia, are doing had never being seen in the history of the college since its inception.
Her words; “It is a marvellous thing that is going on here right now because when i came here in 2024 the school was in shambles, there was no building standing, there was no roof so when it rains we have nowhere to go. The forest was all over and I was scared even as the principal”.
“So this project coming in now at this time transforming the place into this glorious institution our hopes are high we are excited and we are looking forward to the commissioning and praying that God bless all those who have contributed to this immense renovation exercise taking place here”.
Continuing; “With all my heart i say a very big thank you on behalf of myself, the staff and entire students of Auchi College. We are deeply grateful for all they have done. Thank you all the members of the set of Great Achievers, Class of 91’. May God continue to bless you Amen”.
In speech, the Project Engineer, Mr. Kenneth Asekome, recalled the terrible state of the College when he was there for the first time in 2024, when Mr. Dunia decided to pay a visit t the school after so many years, noting that it was after that private visit that he took up the challenge to give his Alma mater a befitting face lift that it’s been witnessed today.
According to him; “I still remember the first day we visited the place when we were coming to inspect the project at Ogbona, we then decided to see what is going on here in the school when we got here it was a disaster, there was nothing, even where they were staying you could see it was dilapidated and water everywhere, especially during the raining season”.
“There was no one building here that was standing that you could call a school, that was what we meet here and it was because of his passion and his sympathy for the school he attended that he organized his school mates so that they can carry out major renovations in the school”.
“On the second day we mobilized and commenced work here in the school and since then we have been working day and night to make sure this project is completed”.
Said he; “I pray God will continue to bless them because of the work they have done in this place. It is rare to see it anywhere. And one thing I would advise them to do is that when they finish this project they should manage this project for some time so it can stabilize even if they are going to hand it over”.
“They should manage it for sometime because if they just leave it to government it will go back to zero again I just pray that God will continue to bless all the achievers 91 set for what they have done for Auchi College, he stated.
