The Akinrin Inter-School Debate and Quiz Competition is set to take a major leap forward this year, with plans to expand its scope to cover the entire state and a neighboring state, so says Aribido David Jayeoba,
Coordinator of the Programme.

Announcing the development, the organizers revealed that they had met with Babajide Kolade-Otitoju, Director of News at TVC News and a son of the soil, who has pledged his support for the initiative.

The competition, which is being held under the patronage of His Royal Majesty Oba Johnson Kolade Otitoju Egbo lona1, Akinrin of Ekinrin Land, aims to promote intellectual engagement and impact lives through education.

According to the organizers, the competition will now be open to schools across the state and a neighboring state, marking a significant step towards making the event a national and global competition.

The flow of activities is set to commence in the first week of February, with invitations and registration of participating schools, followed by awareness campaigns.

The debate and quiz competition will kick off in the first week of March and run until the grand finale in June, during the Akinrin Day celebration.

This year’s edition promises to be more global and inspirational, with the organizers bringing in the lead coach of Kwara Universal Basic Education, Mr. Juwon Babayemi, who led the Kwara team to gold in the Intercontinental Debate in Singapore and to the Presidential Debate Competition in Nigeria.

Mr. Babayemi will be working closely with Mr. Olutekunbi Davies Abiodun to deliver an outstanding Akinrin Inter-School Debate Competition.

The organizers expressed their gratitude to HRM Oba Johnson Kolade Otitoju Egbo lona1 for his unwavering support for education and intellectual engagement, and invited schools to participate in the competition.
