Following the indiscriminate use of number plate cover by vehicle owners, the Niger State Police Command has warned owners and drivers to desist from such acts with immediate effect.

To this end, the Commissioner of Police, Niger State Command CP Monday Bala Kuryas, has directed Area Commanders and DPOs to commence aggressive enforcement against covering of number plate by vehicle owners and drivers.

CP Kuryas in a Statement through the Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun said the Command observed with dismay the rate at which vehicle owners and drivers cover their vehicle number plate with tarpaulin without any reason for such act.

The Command hereby warns vehicle owners and drivers in the State to henceforth desist from such act and avail vehicle registration number to the public, which serves as identification number.

He however stated that anyone found violating the directive will be prosecuted accordingly.

The Police Boss urged the public to cooperate with the Police and other security agencies as the measure is aimed at strengthening internal security of the State.
