Rep. Arc Salman Idris, representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency has expressed deep concern over escalating insecurity in Kogi West.

A recent attack in Kabba/Bunu Local Government Area claimed six lives and kidnapped five others leaving residents fearful.

Hon. Idris described the incident as “yet another painful reminder of growing insecurities.”

While acknowledging Governor Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo’s efforts in addressing security challenges, Hon. Idris stressed the need for a holistic approach to address the root causes of violence.

The lawmaker appealed to the federal government for urgent intervention, citing the need for adequate personnel and equipment to assist the state.

He drew a parallel to the successful security operations in Kaduna State, where heavy deployment of military hardware and personnel led to a notable improvement in the security situation.

He emphasized the importance of collaboration among neighboring states, including Kwara and Ekiti.

Hon. Idris extended his condolences to the victims’ families, praying for the souls of the departed to rest in peace and for their families to find the strength to bear the loss.

He also revealed plans to sponsor a bill allowing citizens to bear arms for self-defense and urged the public to be vigilant and report suspicious activities to the authorities.
