Consumers in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State have cried out over what it called deliberate attempt by the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company AEDC to cripple businesses with epileptic power supply.
The Consumers appealed to Government and management of the Company to safe Ijumu communities from total collapse of Small and Medium Enterprises.
A Consumer, Paul Adebayo from Iyara accused the Company of deliberately supplying power only when it it time to collect electricity bill, describing the act as barbaric, inhumane and wicked.
According to him, Iyara which is the Local Government Headquarters just like other Communities have suffered untold hardship due to the lack of regular power supply.
On his part, Adebowale Solomon pointed out that every attempt to cooperate with the Company to improve their service proved abortive as they have thrown all Communities in Ijumu into darkness.
He stated that despite claim by Government of improvement in power generation and support, the impact is yet to be felt by the people of the Local Government.
Solomon maintained that most Artisans who needed power supply to do their work have relocated from Ijumu to other places due to lack of power supply.
Also, the National President of Ayeh Gbede Community Development Association, Mr. Waheed Sikiru complained that his community has been in darkness since December last year.
Similarly, the Light Up Ijumu Movement (LUIM) has condemned the continuous darkness in the Local Government, calling on the Regional Manager to call his men to order.
