SMEF launches Nationwide’Sign for Sanity’ campaign, says prayer without action is empty

The Sanity Multi-Efforts Forum, SMEF, has urged Nigerians to move from intercession to intervention, saying national restoration requires citizens to “sign for sanity” through deliberate action, civic responsibility and accountable governance.

The position was contained in a press statement issued by the Convener of SMEF, Prince Dan Olaitan Dada, in response to a viral video message by a revered cleric on Sunday, August 9, 2026, in which the cleric declared that Nigerians should never pray to God for the solution to a problem if they were not prepared to do something about it.

Constitutional mandate and philosophy

According to Dada, the cleric’s admonition mirrors the founding philosophy of SMEF and its advocacy slogan, “Sanity Must Be It, SMBI,” which has guided the movement since 2017.

SMEF is a non-profit, non-governmental and non-political organisation registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission under Part C, with registration number RC 9565689.

Pursuant to Articles 2 and 3 of its constitution, Dada said SMEF’s mandate includes good governance advocacy, promoting transparency, accountability and ethical practices in health, education, environment and other public sectors; policy and infrastructure reform, advocating for reforms in taxation, road safety, security and transport, and driving the elimination of illegal roadblocks, extortion and harassment; citizen protection and anti-corruption efforts, combating abuse of power, protecting whistleblowers and providing platforms to report corruption to relevant authorities; and civic education and national development, advancing peace, lawful conduct and evidence-based engagement for sustainable growth.

He added that Article 13 of the SMEF constitution further clarifies that the forum is strictly non-commercial and does not engage in revenue collection, tax enforcement, fines or profit-making ventures.

“Action is the signature”: The six pillars activated

In direct response to the viral video, Dada said he had activated SMEF’s Six Pillars of Sanity as the operational framework for national engagement. These are civic sanity — obeying laws, paying taxes, voting responsibly and rejecting corruption; social sanity — reducing hunger, poverty and idleness through community adoption initiatives; moral sanity — upholding integrity, truth and accountability in public and private life; economic sanity — promoting job creation, SME support and patronage of made-in-Nigeria goods; educational sanity — mentoring youth and building a generation driven by solutions rather than excuses; and spiritual sanity — ensuring that faith is backed by service.

National rollout: “SMEF Sanity Projects 2.0”

As part of this mandate, SMEF announced the nationwide implementation of “SMEF Sanity Projects 2.0” across all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, with key focus areas including food security, civic education, youth empowerment and community service.

The forum also introduced the “Sanity Signature Test,” a three-point accountability framework for all public actions, which asks whether an action serves the people, whether it is traceable and timed, and whether there is consequence for failure.

Escalation protocol and public notice

In accordance with Article 3(3) and (4) of its constitution, Dada said SMEF will continue to receive public complaints and escalate them to appropriate agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, the Judicial Reform Body, JRB, the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, and state internal revenue services.

The forum reiterated that SMEF is an advocacy body and not a revenue agency, and advised members of the public to report impostors operating in its name.

The Sanity Brand Ecosystem, SBES

For clarity, Dada explained that SMEF operates within the Sanity Brand Ecosystem, SBES, a full-cycle reform structure comprising advocacy, policy and implementation arms with independent legal status.

These are SMEF, RC 9565689, the advocacy and policy arm, a non-profit body that leads sensitisation, research and citizen engagement; Dansavist Multi-Concept, DMC, BN 2493694, the pioneer structure focused on field credibility and community engagement; Dansavist Multi-Concept Limited, DMCL, RC 8227188, the delivery engine, a limited liability company for technical implementation under MoU or contract with government and private institutions; and Sanity Multi-Efforts Limited, SMEL, RC 8825804, the service arm, which handles corporate compliance and service delivery under formal contracts.

Members of the public seeking inquiries regarding commercial projects, technical implementation, or partnership proposals under DMC, DMCL or SMEL were advised to contact the SBES Secretariat.

Join the movement

Citizens, organisations and government agencies willing to partner or participate in the campaign can reach SMEF and SBES via WhatsApp on 08111963351 with the message “I WANT TO SIGN FOR SANITY,” by email at sanitymultieffortsforum@gmail.com, or at the headquarters located at No. 64, IBB Way, Opposite Moremi Restaurant, Lokoja, Kogi State.

“From today, let us match our prayers with policy, our faith with works, and our hope with action. That is how we reduce the distress of our country,” Dada said.
