The ADC Crisis: Why Professor Joash Amupitan and INEC Should Not Be the Scapegoats

In the volatile theatre of Nigerian politics, there is a recurring script: when a house built on sand collapses, the inhabitants rarely blame the foundation; they blame the wind, the neighbors, or the government. This is currently the case with the internal tremors rocking the African Democratic Congress (ADC)

As the David Mark-led faction and their sympathizers point accusing fingers at the APC and the INEC Chairman, it is time for a reality check. As an insider familiar with the intricate workings of the ADC—and specifically its stronghold in the Okun region—it is clear that the current “tsunami” is not a product of external sabotage, but of internal negligence.

The primary reason the David Mark-led group is floundering is simple:they jumped into a party without reading the manual.
According to the ADC Constitution, a member cannot hold an elective party structure position without having been a member for at least two years. When Nwosu purportedly resigned and handed over to David Mark, the legal vacuum was immediately apparent to those of us who understand the party’s DNA.
Also You cannot enter a house as a guest and immediately try to evict the landlords who have invested years of resources and time, Political parties are governed by their own laws. To bypass these and then cry foul when they are enforced is the height of political insincerity.

The soul of the ADC in Nigeria resides in Okun. We have built this party into the only standing opposition in the region through sweat and strategy. We know the workings of the party better than any latecomers.
The David Mark faction should have:
1. Worked with the existing leadership (Nwosu).
2. Organized a legitimate convention.
3. Followed the due process of integration.
Instead, they chose a path of displacement, and the results are now manifest.

Stop the Name-Calling: INEC is Not the Enemy
It is both wrong and inhumane to drag the revered INEC Chairman or the APC into an internal administrative failure. The narrative that the APC is working with INEC to “disenfranchise” this faction is a convenient smokescreen.
They are aware they will lose the election and are looking for a graceful exit strategy—a way to lose while claiming they were ‘cheated’ by the system.”

Professor Joash Amupitan and other stakeholders should be less disturbed by these allegations. It has become a cultural staple for the average Nigerian politician to blame others for downfalls they orchestrated

The cat is out of the bag. To the David Mark-led faction: stop dancing to the drums of victimhood. You beat this drum yourself by failing to adhere to the party’s constitution.
Leave the INEC Chairman to do his job. The “tsunami” you face was not sent from the outside; it was brewed in the pot of internal lawlessness. We are watching with fingers crossed, but we will not allow the truth to be buried under the rubble of false accusations.
