About 3000 Households in Kogi State affected by the economic effect occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic have benefitted from the benevolence of the TY Danjuma Foundation’s Victims Support Fund (VSF).
The VSF is an arm of the Foundation saddled with the responsibility of providing succour to households affected by the Pandemic as well as families touched by terror attacks across the country.
The Foundation donated Medical facilities, Solar power borehole, food items such as Rice, Garri, Palm oil and Vegetable oil to some households and also to the Kogi State Government for onward distribution to the 21 local government areas.
Kogi State Deputy Governor, Chief Edward Onoja, while speaking at the the commissioning the solar powered borehole at Government Girls Secondary School, Sarkin Noma in Lokoja, thanked VSF for considering the people of the state for such a laudable gestures.
According to him, the relief materials and the water provided would go along way in providing succour and hope to the victims.
In her remark, the Chairperson, COVID-19 Taskforce of Victims Support Fund VSF in Lokoja, Mrs Toyosi Ekerele-Ogunsuji, said that the gesture was aimed at giving relief to victims of the deadly virus.
In her words “We understand there are no internally Displaced persons (IDPs) but because of our dedication and commitment, we are today in this rural community having initiated projects which will help to touch lives of the rural poor in Kogi.”
Even if COVID-19 pandemic didn’t choose where to ravage but it was all round and people were dying.
“So our Chairman, Gen T.Y. Danjuma, decided to inaugurate a taskforce and gave us an instruction and mandate to go round Nigeria and support vulnerable communities.
Other items distributed are personal protective equipment, half mask suits, surgical masks, usable face masks and hand sanitiser, two more boreholes were sunk at Government Secondary School in Okene and Muslim Community College.
Hajia Fatima Salihu, who is the Principal of Government Girls Secondary School Sarkin Noma, described the gesture as a big relief to the school and the surrounding community.
She thanked Gen. T.Y. Danjuma, for his humanitarian services through the VSF, and wished him more of God’s grace to do more for mankind.
The Erelu of Mopa Land, Dr Ronke Bello, who facilitated TY Danjuma Foundation fund to Kogi State, was on ground to receive the VSF team at her office in the Kogi State Government House (Lugard House)
