World Widows Day: Kogi Lawmaker Empowers 100 Widows

Kogi Lawmaker Empowers 100 Widows

 

The member representing Ijumu Constituency in Kogi State House of Assembly, Princess Omotayo Adeleye-Ishaya has empowered 100 Widows in the constituency with #5,000 each.

 

The empowerment, which coincided with the celebration of International Women’s Day was announced by the lawmaker at the 2024 Ekinrin Adde Day over the weekend.

 

According to her, about #500, 000 was expended on the empowerment as a little way of putting smiles on the faces of widows at a time the country is passing through economic difficulties.

 

The Lawmaker noted that “I lost my beloved husband about four months ago and I now feel what it means to lose the bread winner of the family to the cold hands of death.”

 

“That is why I deemed it for as the representative of the good people of Ijumu Constituency at the State House of Assembly to empower 100 Widows with the sum of #500,000. Each widow got #5000 to cushion the effect of the current economic quagmire.

 

She assured of her commitment to providing quality representation to the people of Ijumu through Empowerment and legislation that will have direct bearing on the State and its citizens.
