The National Agency for the Great Green Wall has reaffirmed its commitment to expanding clean cooking solutions across Northern Nigeria, with plans to support the distribution of 2.4 million clean cookstoves in 2026 under the Renewed Hope Climate Change Initiative.
Director General, Alhaji Abubakar Sale, MFR, said this in Kano during an inspection tour of the Burn factory where eco friendly cooking stoves are being produced for roll out to rural communities across northern nigeria.

Speaking at a high-level engagement in Mr Abubakar who was represented by Dr Olanrewaju Ogunmilua, Technical Assistant to the Director General, noted the agency see the development as one that is both important and strategic to the Director General.

He noted that advancing sustainable environmental solutions and improving livelihoods in frontline communities is a deliberate agenda of the agency
He commended BURN Manufacturing for its innovation and dedication to promoting clean cooking technologies that address both environmental and health challenges.
The Director General also acknowledged the efforts of the Presidential Team on the Renewed Hope Climate Change Initiative for providing leadership in driving climate-focused interventions nationwide.

According to him, the visit reflects a shared determination among stakeholders to implement practical and scalable solutions to climate change.
He stressed that clean cooking remains a critical issue, noting that over 40 million households in Northern Nigeria still depend on traditional biomass for cooking.
This dependence, he explained, contributes significantly to deforestation, indoor air pollution, and health risks, particularly affecting women and children.
Ogunmilua highlighted that NAGGW, with its presence across eleven frontline states and established community networks, is well-positioned to lead the large-scale rollout of clean cooking solutions.
He described the collaboration with BURN Manufacturing and the Presidential Team as a strategic partnership capable of generating employment, boosting community engagement, and unlocking over N300 billion in carbon financing.
Looking ahead, he revealed that the agency plans to support the capitalization and distribution of 2.4 million clean cooking stoves in 2026, expressing optimism that the initiative will deliver lasting environmental, economic, and social benefits.
