The attention of concerned stakeholders within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State has been drawn to a publication titled “How Plot to Stop Senator Karimi’s Second Term Gained The Support of His Kinsman, Muyi Aina.”
The piece, laden with conjectures, insinuations, and unsubstantiated claims, represents nothing short of a calculated campaign of calumny designed to mislead the public and sow seeds of discord within the party.
Let it be stated clearly and unequivocally: Dr. Muyi Aina remains a committed APC stakeholder in Kogi State and Kogi West, whose political engagements are guided by inclusiveness, party unity, and democratic values. Any attempt to portray him as an antagonist in a so-called “plot” against any aspirant is both misleading and intellectually dishonest.
In a vibrant democracy such as ours, political consultation, engagement, and interaction with aspirants are not only normal—they are essential.
Dr. Aina, like many respected leaders within the APC, maintains an open-door policy to all aspirants under the party’s platform. Taking photographs with aspirants or receiving them on courtesy visits does not, and should not, be twisted to suggest endorsement or alliance. Such distortions are deliberate efforts to manufacture crisis where none exists.
It is important to remind purveyors of this narrative that virtually all aspirants within the APC have, at various times, presented their nomination forms to various stakeholders within the party, as part of routine political consultation and respect for party leadership. At no point did such engagements attract controversy or accusations of conspiracy. When, then, did it become a crime for a critical stakeholder like Dr. Muyi Aina to receive an aspirant or be visited for similar purposes?
This selective outrage exposes the hypocrisy and underlying agenda behind the publication.
Furthermore, attempts to frame normal internal party dynamics as a “grand plot” undermine the very essence of democracy. The APC, as a progressive platform, thrives on healthy competition, open participation, and fair primaries—not orchestrated narratives aimed at discrediting perceived opponents.
Let it also be emphasized that Dr. Muyi Aina has consistently demonstrated maturity, restraint, and loyalty to party cohesion, refusing to be drawn into petty political mudslinging. Efforts to drag his name into divisive propaganda should be condemned by all well-meaning party faithful.
We therefore strongly condemn any form of campaign of calumny, character assassination, or deliberate misinformation, as seen in the said publication. Such tactics are not only dangerous but capable of heating up the polity unnecessarily.
A word of caution to all political actors and commentators: desist from creating tension where none exists. Kogi West does not need manufactured crises. What the people deserve is constructive engagement, issue-based politics, and a commitment to the unity and progress of the APC.
In conclusion, the strength of the APC lies in its diversity, internal democracy, and the ability of its leaders and stakeholders to accommodate differing ambitions without resorting to falsehoods. Let us protect that strength—not weaken it through reckless narratives.
Politics must remain a contest of ideas, not a battleground of false accusations.
