A Professor of Leadership and Good Governance at the University of America, Prof. Mike Ikupolati, has advocated the rotation of the Kogi State governorship seat among the state’s three senatorial districts, to give each district a sense of belonging in the governance of the state.
Ikupolati, who is also Chief Executive Officer of Global Intellectual Consult, urged members of the Kogi State House of Assembly, particularly those from Kogi West, to legislate on rotating the Lugard House seat among the senatorial districts.

He spoke while addressing the Okun Unity Dialogue, organised by the Okun Development Initiative in Abuja, on the topic “Unity for Strength: Building Strategic Elites, Consensus and Political Cohesion.”
According to him, occupying the number-one seat in Kogi State has remained the dream of every son and daughter of Kogi West, both at home and in the diaspora.
He called on lawmakers from the senatorial district to put heads together and work out the modalities for giving legal backing to the rotation arrangement.
Ikupolati said leaders in Okunland, including traditional rulers, must be intentional about unity of purpose if the area is to move forward, stressing the need for a clear vision for the “Okun Agenda.”
He urged leaders to serve as ladders on which the younger generation could rise to the top.
He further called for the constitution of a Reconciliation Committee to pacify aggrieved Okun sons and daughters, in a bid to heal wounds and move the area forward.
