The ancient town of Oke Offin on Tuesday came alive as over 250 leaders and supporters of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Olle Oke Offin Ward defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking during the Decamping Ceremony, a former Leader of PDP, Hon. Michael Olubiyo, said the quality leadership style of Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo endeared him to join the ruling party.
Hon. Olubiyo also said the State Security Adviser, Commander Jerry Omodara rtd has used his office to attract dividends of democracy to the people of the community.
According to him, his coming and that of other supporters is to add value and join forces to develop the community and the Ward.
Another Decampee, Hon. Babatunde Yusuf said so many greedy PDP leaders did not allow the party to flourish, hence their decision to join the APC.
Hon. Babatunde also attributed his defection to the dogged and outstanding leadership qualities of his Principal, Asiwaju Olatunji Olusoji to work for the party and the Governor of the State.
The State Security Adviser, Commander Omodara expressed delight that the ruling party has continued to grow and wax stronger under the present administration.
According to him, as far the State is concerned, there’s no opposition as they have been on the side of the Government.
“There’s no State in Nigeria that will massively vote for President Tinubu like Kogi State. And when it is time for the re-election of Governor Ododo, the same gesture will be extended. Ododo has done well, the President has done well too. He has given us good candidates and we are ready to support them.
Commander Omodara stated that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has renewed the hope of Nigerians in governance and should be supported by all.
In their goodwill message, former Speaker Matthew Kolawole, Chieftains of the Party, Alfred Bello, Nathaniel Ojo Taiwo applauded the leadership provided by the State Security Adviser.
Earlier, APC Chairman of Ollie/Oke Offin Ward, Leke Amupitan, said the massive Decamping shows the love and Unity in the party to deliver one hundred percent to the Party.
The move he noted is as a result of the outstanding performance of Governor, State Security Adviser and Commissioner of Education as well as the Chairman of the Local Government.
He told the new entrants that their decision to join the Party is wise and apt, saying the doors of the party are still open.
