An elder statesman in Kogi State, Dr. Williams Toyin Akanle, has criticised the planned Kogi power rotation summit, questioning whether traditional rulers should determine the fate of Kogi West on the governorship rotation issue.
Reacting to the proposed summit, Akanle described the arrangement as “a mockery and a faulty start.”
“This is interesting, to say the least. Is it the traditional rulers that will determine our fate in Kogi West on the issue of Kogi State governorship rotation?” he asked.

The elder statesman urged the organisers to reflect on their actions, saying they should “search their minds” to be sure their conscience was still functioning.
“It is a dangerous thing to take people for granted,” he warned. “We are watching.”
Akanle’s reaction adds to the growing debate over the zoning and rotation of the state’s top political office ahead of the next governorship election.
