Committee of Friends Release Activities to Mark Kogi High Court Judge Retirement

Committee of friends of Hon.  Justice Alaba Omolaye Ajileye, PhD, will Friday, February 17, 2023, make a public presentation of a compendium of selected judgments and rulings written and delivered by His Lordship over the years.

 

A statement signed by Prof. Yemi Akinseye-George SAN, and Mela Nunghe, SAN says the compendium is considered by the Committee, as one of the ways to honour the erudite judge, who is set to retire from the judiciary on February 15, 2023 when he attains the age of 65 years.

 

The statement describes Hon. Justice A. O. Ajileye, a judge of the High Court of Kogi State, as an accomplished author, and expert on the law of Electronic Evidence.

 

It states further that, Ajileye’s vibrant, erudite, illustrious, and outstanding judicial career on the High Court Bench is widely acclaimed as worthy of celebration.

 

“The retirement of such an iconic judge should not pass without notice” the statement stressed.

 

The Committee in the statement, expressed belief that the compendium, titled “In the Interest of Justice – Excellence in Judgment Writing,” will inspire other judges and scholars in the beautiful art of judgment writing.

The event is scheduled to take place at Yar’Adua Centre, Abuja, as against the earlier announcement of Merit House. Time is 10.00 am.

 

The comprehensive programme of events lined up to mark the retirement of Justice Ajileye consists of the following:

 

1. *Commencement/Public Lecture*

Topic: The A-Z of the Regime of Electronic Evidence in Nigeria: Issues and Challenges.

Venue: Physical & Virtual.

Rule of Law Development Foundation (RODLF).

Jabi, Abuja.

Date: Friday, 10th February, 2023

 

2. *Evening of Seven Hymns* organised jointly by the Kogi CRFI and 1975 Class of SBSS, Kabba

Date: Tuesday, 14th February,

Venue: Jus Ajileye’s Compound, Phase II Housing Estate, Opposite Harmony School, Lokoja.

Time: 4-6pm.

 

3. *Valedictory Court Session*

Date: Wednesday, 15 February, 2023.

Venue: Judiciary Headquarters, Lokoja.

Time: 10.00 am.

 

4. *Valedictory Dinner*

Date:15th February, 2023

Venue: Reverton Hotel

Lokoja

Time: 6.00pm

 

5. *Book Launch/ Presentation*

Title of Book: In the Interest of Justice: Excellence in Judgment Writing.

Date: Friday, 17 February 2023

 

6. *Thanksgiving Service*

Date: Sunday, 19 February 2023
