Kogi State Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Hajia Rabi’atu Okute and the Executive Secretary of the State Emergency Management Agency, Hon Muktar Atima visited the IDP camp in Abejukolo.

The visit was to fulfill Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo’s promise during his first visit aimed at assessing the camp’s conditions, address the concerns of the internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Omala local government area of kogi state.
The duo also distributed essential relief materials and foods.
Upon arrival, the team was greeted by the IDPs, who shared their stories of resilience and struggle. The Commissioner and Executive Secretary listened attentively, offering words of encouragement and support. They then proceeded to distribute food items and other supplies, ensuring that the most vulnerable individuals received priority attention.
During the visit, the team also inspected the camp’s facilities, including the water and sanitation systems, healthcare services. They engaged with the camp management and stakeholders, discussing ways to enhance the overall living conditions and well-being of the IDPs.
The Commissioner reiterated the governor’s commitment to supporting the good people of Omala and the affected people in the IDPs and ensuring their safe return to their communities.
The Executive Secretary emphasized the importance of collaboration between government agencies, NGOs, and local authorities to address the humanitarian needs of the displaced population.
The Caretaker Chairman of Omala local government, Hon. Edigbo Ameh Mark extend his appreciation to the delegates he said once upon a time they had a governor who didn’t responded to their aides and now a governor from another region is attending to their problems.
He promised to work with his people to deliver his Excellency’s reelection mandates as he believe this tenure is already sealed by God almighty.
