Today, Akanmode Dynasty pauses to remember and honour the passing to glory two of our heroes, progenitors and foundation, coincidentally happening the same date. We lost Prince Samuel Olorundare Akanmode on the 23rd of June 1988.
I remember clearly that this sad incident happened in Ilorin in the afternoon but darkness enveloped the whole city. Prince Samuel Akanmode did not live long but we remember him today because of his kindness, sacrifice and impact.
To our dear father and the late Oba of Aiyetoro Gbedde, Oba Johnson Olodoa Akanmode, who transited to glory on 23rd of June 2010, the Dynasty will continue to cherish your memory and the values you stood for. You led with dignity, wisdom and love for your people. Your reign and your counsel shaped not just our family, but the community and all who knew you.
The two of you may be gone from our sight, but you live on in our stories and in the legacies and the lives you touched.
May your souls continue to rest in perfect peace and may Almighty God also continue to grant the Akanmode Dynasty comfort, unity and strength as we keep your memories alive. Amen.
