The Kogi State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, in partnership with the Kogi State Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project (L-PRES), has made significant strides in combating anthrax through the vaccination of over 200,000 livestock.

The Drum Reporter had reported that L-PRES Donates 500,000 Doses of Anthrax Spore Vaccines To Kogi Govt.

The ongoing campaign is focused on safeguarding cattle, sheep, and goats across the state, utilizing 540,000 doses of the Anthrax Spore Vaccine. This effort aims to control the spread of the deadly anthrax disease and ensure the health and productivity of livestock in Kogi State.

During a visit to one of the vaccination centers, the State Project Coordinator of Kogi L-PRES, Dr. Olufemi Bolarin, emphasized that the vaccination exercise underscores the Kogi State Government’s commitment to improving livestock health and supporting farmers’ livelihoods across the state. He urged farmers to bring their animals forward for vaccination.

The vaccination exercise is expected to continue until November 8th, 2024.
