The Okoro Gbede High School Alumni Association (Class of 1997) has presented the Icon of Hope Award to Asiwaju. Richard Osaseyi, a renowned Kogi born philanthropist.
The award was conferred on Asiwaju. Osaseyi in recognition of his consistent contributions to the welfare of students and his efforts to support education in the community.
Asiwaju Osaseyi, a distinguished alumnus of Okoro Gbede High School (Class of 1994), was honored for his role in providing financial assistance, scholarships, and educational materials to students of OGHS and other public schools in the area.
His dedication to improving educational opportunities has positively impacted countless lives in the community.
The award presentation took place on January 28, 2025, during a ceremony in honor of class of 1997 as put together by Hon. Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege, the Kogi State Auditor General Local Government, in celebration of the contributions of members to education and community development.
Other notable awardees included Hon. Yakubu Siyaka Adabenege, the Kogi State Auditor General for Local Government; Mr. Michael Obanewo, a former House of Representatives aspirant for Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu under the People’s Democratic Party; Hon. Olorundare Zacchaeus, Executive Chairman of Kabba-Bunu Local Government; and Hon. Ibrahim Haruna, Executive Chairman of Ijumu Local Government, among others.
The event served as an opportunity to recognize individuals whose efforts have made a significant impact on the lives of students and the broader community.
