All is now ready for the 2023 celebration of Okoro Gbede Day with Dignitaries from all walks of life expected to storm the epoch making event.
The Okoro Gbede Day is a celebration of the Cultural heritage of the Community and will feature launching of N500m Appeal Fund for Community developmental projects which include; renovation of blocks of classrooms, reconstruction of community Town Hall, provision of Solar powered street light as well as provision and reticulation of potable water.
According to a statement by the National President of Okoro-Gbede Development Association, High Chief Pedro Durotiwon, the event will hold at LGEA Primary School Ground, Okoro-Gbede, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State on Saturday 7th October, 2023 at 11am.
Kogi State Governor, Alh. Yahaya Bello is the Grand Guest of Honour, while the Senator representing Kogi West, Sunday Karimi, member representing Kabba-Bunu/Ijumu Federal Constituency, Arc. Salman Idris and Princess Omotayo Adeleye-Ishaya, member representing Ijumu Constituency in the State Assembly are the Special Guests respectively.
The event will be Chaired by Chief Victor Adewale Omofaiye, Kogi State Commissioner of Environment, while Amb. Funmilayo Bodunde, the Yeye Oba of Iyara land will be the Chairperson with Professor Olayemi Akinwumi, Vice Chancellor, Federal University Lokoja as Guest Speaker.
Chief Launchers of the celebration are; Senator Dino Melaye, Elder Leke Abejide, Alh. Ahmed Usman Ododo and Otunba Olayinka Braimoh, while His Majesty, Oba Olusegun Oloruntoba, the Olugbede of Gbede and HRH. Oba Emmanuel Adebayo Omofe II, the Olukoyi of Okoro-Gbede are Hosts.
