The Borno State Commissioner of Police, Yusufu Lawal has assured residents in the state that police will no longer delay in responding to emergency calls from the public
The police Commissioner gave the assurance on Wednesday at an event organised to mark this year’s Nigeria Police Day in Maiduguri.
The event which brought together representatives of communities, stakeholders and media professionals focused on interaction and engagement and was used by the Police to get feedback about their operations
While responding to one of the concern raised by participants on police delay to emergency calls, Yusufu charged officers and DPOs to prioritise the feedback and ensure that they engage their respective communities for mutual relationship

“I must admit that our response to public call is very poor. Feedback such as this is a privilege. We must take it and act on it”
” You (police personnel) are here. This is a wake up call to go to your community, engage your people and ensure that closeness through community interaction and engagement” he said
While assuring members of the public of improved service, the CP called for collaboration and community support to the Nigerian police force
Speaking, the Chairman of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC), Abatcha Umar, expressed appreciation for the event and guaranteed ongoing support in combating crime.
Hajiya Kaltume Jafar, the Deputy PCRC Chairwoman, while appreciating the police for their contribution to the peace in Borno, she stressed that it’s vital to recognise police officers who risk their lives every day to ensure the safety of communities.
