Otunba Olayinka Braimoh, the governorship candidate of the Action Alliance (AA) in the November 11, 2023 election in Kogi State, strongly condemns the brutal massacre of 25 innocent citizens in Agojeju – Odo and other communities of Omala LGA.
He emphasizes that any act of killing is not only ungodly and inhumane, but also completely unacceptable.
Braimoh appeals to the federal government to urgently intervene and utilize all available resources to apprehend the perpetrators of this heinous crime.
By doing so, the government can provide the necessary reassurance of peaceful coexistence to the victims and the entire people of Kogi State. While it is primarily the responsibility of the state government to ensure the security of its citizens, Braimoh believes that the federal government’s intervention, similar to what was done in Okuoma, Delta State, would greatly demonstrate its support for the people of Kogi State.
He calls upon the Inspector General of Police and other Service Chiefs to promptly take action in identifying and bringing the culprits to justice, regardless of their social status or connections.
In addition to appealing for federal government intervention, Braimoh urges the state government to be proactive and responsive in addressing this issue. He emphasizes that effective governance entails more than mere rhetoric or extravagant displays, but rather focuses on enacting and implementing laws, providing essential infrastructure, and safeguarding the lives and properties of the citizens.
Braimoh believes that by holding criminals accountable in accordance with the law, the government can effectively protect the well-being of its people.
“I express my condolences to the families of the individuals who lost their lives in the tragic event and urge the public to remain resilient and collaborate with our security forces to bring back peace” Braimoh concluded.
