Ahead of the 100 years birthday celebration of HRM. Oba Joseph Adebayo Ikusemoro, the Olubunu of Bunu land in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, a high level Central Planning Committee has been constituted.
According to Commander Duro Jerry Omodara (Rtd) State Security Adviser to the Kogi State Government, in a statement explained that the programme will feature the celebration of 64th years on the throne of his Ancestors.
Oba Ikusemoro, is the longest reigning monarch in North Central Nigeria, and one of the oldest in the country, as he ascended the throne sixty-four (64) years ago in 1961.
It reads “The Olubunu of Bunu will be one hundred (100) years old on Sunday 20th July, 2025. In recognition of your outstanding commitment to community service and leadership, we are pleased to formally request you to serve as a member of the Committee for the Centenary Celebration of His Royal Majesty, the Olubunu of Bunu Land, and the oldest reigning monarch in North Central Nigeria.”
“This historic celebration marks a century of revered traditional leadership, wisdom, and enduring legacy. Your inclusion in this prestigious committee is based on your proven track record of integrity, dedication, and your contributions toward cultural preservation and community development.
Terms of Reference for the Committee include; participating in planning and coordination meetings, supporting the execution of events and activities related to the centenary, serving as an ambassador of the celebration to mobilize resources and goodwill and ensuring that the celebration reflects the dignity and significance of His Royal Majesty’s legacy.
It added that details of the inaugural committee meeting and specific role will be communicated in due course.
