Following the success of previous installments, the Interim Board of the DELSU Medical School Alumni Association (DUMSAA) is pleased to announce the continuation of their engaging Seminar Series, inviting all esteemed alumni to join the latest session.
The next seminar will be held on Monday, April 21st, 2025 (Easter Monday) at 5:00 PM prompt. Building on the insightful discussions of past events, the theme for this upcoming session remains pertinent: “Building a Formidable Alumni,” promising further valuable perspectives on strengthening the alumni network, supporting the university, and fostering professional advancement.

Adding a special highlight to this session is a highly anticipated “Meet and Greet” segment featuring the much-loved Dr. Borke Moghene Emona, a faculty member who holds a cherished place in the memories of countless Delta State University medical graduates. This will provide another welcome opportunity to reconnect with a favorite lecturer.
The distinguished guest for this continuation of the series is the esteemed Dr. Borke Moghene Emona, whose presence is sure to enrich the discussion with his wealth of knowledge and experience.
This engaging event will be held virtually via the Zoom platform. The link to join the seminar will be shared shortly before the event, ensuring easy access for all alumni.
Dr. Kennedy O. Obohwemu, the Interim Board Chair, emphasized the importance of this ongoing initiative, stating, “Our Seminar Series serves as a vital platform for connection, learning, and collective growth for our alumni.
“We are particularly delighted to welcome back our dearly beloved Dr. Borke for this session. His impact on generations of medical students is undeniable, and we know this event will be both inspiring and a wonderful opportunity to reconnect with a familiar and respected figure.”
The Assistant PRO for the Interim Board, Dr. Victor Ifeanyi-Nze, reiterated the value of the series, stating, “Arrange your itinerary, mark your calendar, and set the alarm, as this event promises to be just as inspiring, mind-blowing, and all-encompassing as previous sessions.”

About Dr. Borke
Dr. Borke Moghene Emona, born January 22, 1956, in Abeokuta, Ogun State, completed his primary and secondary education in the then Bendel State before graduating from Edo College, Benin City, in 1974. Following a brief period as a science teacher, he pursued his medical education at the University of Benin.
During his time at the University of Benin, Dr. Borke was actively involved in student leadership, culminating in his role as Speaker of the University Student Union Congress. He also joined the Nigerian Army Medical Corps as a student cadet.
Upon graduating and completing his housemanship at Central Hospital Benin City (1982/83), Dr. Borke underwent military training and served in various command positions within the Nigerian Army Medical Corps, including tours in Ibadan, Benin City, Maiduguri, Liberia, and Jaji, ultimately retiring voluntarily in 1996.
Subsequently, Dr. Borke pursued a residency program in Pathology with a specialization in Haematology and Blood Transfusion at the University of Benin Teaching Hospital. This led to his employment at Delta State University, Abraka, as a Lecturer I and Consultant Haematologist at the Teaching Hospital in Oghara. He retired from these roles as a Senior Lecturer and Chief Consultant Grade 1 in 2021.
Following his retirement, Dr. Borke served as a Contract Senior Lecturer at Edo University Iyamho for three years, concluding in March 2024. He is celebrated for his significant contributions to medical education at both Delta State University and Edo University Iyamho.
