In March last year, Dr. Paul Femi Fashagba, the Provost of Kogi State College of Education Ankpa, took over the affairs of the College by hitting the ground running with the declaration of a State of Emergency on Water and Power supply.
His coming on Board brought a sigh of relief as his administration in the last one year has made significant impact in the lives of the students, management and Staff of the College.
KSCOE Ankpa Matriculates NCE Students as Dr. Fashagba Promises Improved Academic Standard
A dogged Leader and Goal Getter, Dr. Fashagba FCNA has achieved some notable milestones since taking office.
Infrastructure Development
On the Day he took over office, the Provost declared State of Emergency on electricity and water supply which were major challenges presented to him for immediate action. He has improved water supply, electricity, and security on campus.
Academic Excellence
In the Area of Academic excellence, the Provost has ensured standards in the teaching and learning of the College as he has promoted academic excellence, innovation, and student welfare.
Certificate Proforma
About 9 Months in the office, Dr. Paul Femi Fashagba, broke 9 years jinx as his administration successfully printed about 4000 Certificates Proforma from the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCCE).
Since 2016, the institution has issue with graduates of the college collecting their certificates, thereby creating significant tension in and around the college. upon assumption of duty by the Provost, he vowed to arrest the situation as quick as possible, he then immediately swung into action by convening a stakeholders’ meeting involving management members, and representatives of the affected graduates.
The feat no doubt is a landmark achievement and dream come through for him as this singular act made him a true Talk and do Leader.
After receiving a detailed briefing, the Provost leveraged all his efforts and connections to makes sure he put the smiles on the faces of the affected graduates. This he did, by paying up the required sum to produce the certificates to NCCE and followed up through to NCCE and Nigeria security, printing and minting commission PLC which is saddled with the responsibility of certificates production for all state colleges of education.
He successfully retrieved and distributed about 4,000 certificate proformas from the National Commission for Colleges of Education (NCEE) for graduates from 2016 to date.
Skill Acquisition Centre
The Dr. Fashagba led administration commissioned the Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurial Centre to equip students with trade skills.
His administration also took delivery of State of the art fashion design equipment from the Tertiary Education Fund (TETFUND).
Awards and Recognition
The Provost has received several awards, including the Award of Excellence from the Kogi State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Meritorious and Leadership Award from the National Association of Nigeria Colleges of Education Students (NANCES) just to mention but a few.
Security
In the Area of Security, the Provost has provided motorcycles and necessary equipment for the Institution’s Security Unit to carry out their duties.
In all, the Staff and Students have been majestically motivated under the present Provost and this has been obvious in the relative peace and drastic reduction in the numbers of reduction in the numbers of petitions that usually emanate from the College.
In all, Dr. Paul Femi Fashagba has justified his appointment and can simply be described as a tested and trusted Leader, who had from time to time demonstrated his support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo.
