A Legal Icon, Chief Victoria Olufunmilayo Awomolo has advocated increased stake in the Empowerment of women by individuals and government at all levels.

Chief Awomolo said the role of women in community development cannot be overemphasized as they have “productive force and a store of incredible human resources needed for national development.”

She was speaking in a Paper presentation at the 2022 South East Yagba Women’s Day with the theme ” Women and National Development” held at Poyan, Yagba East Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The Legal Luminary noted that for the nation to get things right, women must be included in decision making and participation in governance.

According to her, educating the girl Child is important to ending issues of Illiteracy among the women folks.

“A study has shown that there exists a high illiteracy rate among the members of the women’s groups and most of them are not aware of existing National or International gender equality laws or affirmative action.

“Thus, it is difficult to participate in community development and contribute their voices to political issues. Education of the girl child is the solution to this and I call for more attention.”

She commended the initiative of South East Yagba Women in championing the promotion of girl Child education
