After five years of rigorous work and deployment of resources, the Bible Society of Nigeria BSN has announced that it would deliver a completely translated Bible in Okun language, “Bibeli Li Ede Okun”, to the good people of Okun in Kogi State.

The event, which is scheduled for Thursday, November 3, 2022, has already begun to witness massive celebrations and high expectations across Okun land.

For the over 2 million Okun people cut across Owe, Iyagba, Ijumu, Gbede, Bunu, Ikiri, Kabba, and Oworo in Kogi State, having the Bible in their dialect is certainly a watershed in the history of their nation.

The advantages of having the Bible in Okun language are numerous as it will help the people to read the Bible in their language and understand it better, thus spreading the gospel faster.

This certainly is good news for evangelists and missionaries to Okun land as their work now becomes easier. The Okun language Bible will also lead to the deepening of the individual faith of the people in God as they can now carry out indigenous Bible studies in groups.

For cultural assimilation, the Okun language Bible will help develop the Okun language which has now been documented in written form. Moreover, the church is better for it as interdenominational cooperation will now be easily achieved using a common local language Bible.

So, come Thursday, November 3, 2022, all roads lead to The Apostolic Church Nigeria Agirigbon, Ayetoro-Gbede, Opposite Atiku Square, Ijumu LGA of Kogi State.
